The subject of suicide has always been a difficult conversation to have. Having an open conversation about mental health can be difficult but speaking about suicide is still taboo for most people.
When an individual or family decide to become foster parents, they often have months to prepare while they pursue their licensure – Attending orientations, selecting an agency, attending PRIDE/GROW training, and buying furniture, lock boxes for medication, diapers, etc.
In honor of May as National Foster Care Awareness Month, the Regional Resource Teams and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services are highlighting exceptional foster families by fulfilling 31 wishes of 31 families during the 31 days in May.
