WIC

The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) is a federally-funded program that serves low and moderate income pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum women, infants, and children up to age 5. Children in foster care ages 0-5 are automatically eligible for WIC. A foster child shall be considered a one person family where the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services (MDHHS) is legally responsible for the child and the foster home is an extension of DHHS. Payments made by DHHS or from any other source for the care of the foster child shall be considered the income for the child.
